Houston Personal Trainer – Brice Remaley

Houston Personal Trainer Brice R.Why did you become a personal trainer?
It was all started as a terrible accident.

What are your favorite things about being a personal trainer?
Wearing shorts to work. I also get a lot of enjoyment from seeing my clients do things they didn’t know they were capable of.

If you could train one celebrity, who would it be and why?
I prefer to train everyday, normal people. I bet training celebrities would be a pain in the ass.

If you had one workout style to describe yourself, what would it be?
One workout style sounds awful! I like having ten and taking the best from each one. If you look at a week or a month of my workouts, there is such a variety I don’t think I am able to answer this question. And I’m not talking about ‘muscle confusion’ — I think of that as a marketing scheme that I don’t believe in. I know how I would classify them. Result driven. Everything we do, we do for a reason and we do it because it works.

In your mind, what is the single biggest benefit for someone to hire a personal trainer?
I think most people would answer this saying motivation or accountability and that may be true for many. I like to think that my programming, the workouts themselves, are the most important thing i bring to the table. I spend a lot of time each week ‘programming’ the following week. For the main lifts, bench press, squat and deadlifts, we don’t stray too far from what history and science has shown us work. But each week I like my clients be surprised and work on a new skill. It may be juggling or just a new way of training your gluteus medius. I spend quite a bit of my free time reading and researching as well as attending seminars led by leaders in the industry. Dragon Door Publications and Russian Kettlebell Certifications have been the biggest influences in my career.

What are your hobbies?
For the past 16 years, trail running and running ultra marathons have occupied a big chunk of my free time. I’m ready to try something new.

Any guilty pleasures?
Easy question. Ice cream. Mediterranean Mint Gelato to be specific.
