Train out of your home – The trainer comes to you.
I got interested in personal training after helping a few friends incorporate lifting and or running into their routines.
I was never naturally athletic and in elementary school, a physical education teacher recommended that I “would never be good at sports and should just stop trying.” I didn’t take his advice to heart and kept trying different forms of movement until I found what worked well for me. I ended up being a four-year starter for an NCAA field hockey team and since then I’ve completed a triathlon, three marathons, and a slew of halves, 10-milers, 10ks, and 5ks. I’m a member of the DC Pynk Run Club and I completed a personal training certification to continue my education and interests in wellness and help others start or expand on their own relationship with exercise. I work full-time in government service and am passionate about health, agriculture, and climate.
Following the conclusion of my athletic career, I tried every fitness trend I could muster from CrossFit to rock climbing to cardio kickboxing to pick-up soccer to distance running. I think that there is a lot of range and opportunities for success in fitness and that exercise is just one component for mental and physical well-being. I think that training should be goals-oriented and that a trainer and a client are a team to move towards progress, whether that is running your first 5k, breaking 3:25 in a marathon, touching your toes, or squatting 250 lbs!

It depends on what your goals are and IF you want supporting workouts for outside of our sessions. If your goal is running-focused, you can expect our training session to be focused on your accessory muscles and balancing increasing weight load with your mileage If your goal is to increase muscle mass, we will build out a program that will combine heavy high-volume with some cardio to help your breathwork and your endurance through longer workouts.
There is no 100% perfect way to exercise for everyone and each individual needs a plan that works well with their experience level and their bodies. I might push you to do that extra rep, and I will always hop in to do it with you if you need a little juice or help feeling a pace, but ultimately this is supposed to be fun and I want to work with you to make it feel that way!
I recently helped coach two women to PRs in their spring races, a 10-miler and a half marathon. I have also self-coached myself into running three marathons, a triathlon, and am embarking on training for a 4th marathon in the fall. I’m new to being a personal trainer and would love for you to be my next success story!
