About Kim M

Hi, I’m Kim and I’ve been in the fitness industry for over 30 years. I stated teaching group fitness and progressed to individual personal training. My philosophy is to help you become strong so you can move through your daily activity with little to no pain through focusing on physical wellness. Getting the body to move the way it was designed to move. I’ve seen the industry grow to a more athletically focused style that often times by passes the basics of body placement and form. My focus is on setting the foundation first and getting your mind and body in sync with each other by starting slow to make sure the brains messages to the muscle are grounded in proper form.

My experience covers a wide variety of modalities. I’ve taught STEP, kickboxing (my favorite), Circuit, Slide, Aqua Aerobics, stretch and flex (kind of like yoga), senior fitness, and youth fitness. My individual clients include working with people of various age groups and physical conditions. I’ve helped people reagin their strength after considerable time being sedentary, those who are coming back from various injuries or physical limitations, individuals who are experiencing compensation from improper posture,

I enjoy helping the beginner to understand the basics of body positioning before jumping into an athletic style boot camp. So many people suffer from common aliments of lower back pain, shoulder pain and knee conditions. Quite often this is due to a lack of strength in certain muscles and a sedentary lifestyle. Jumping into a strenuous bootcamp can result in injury if the interior support muscles are weak. If you desire to one day join one of the more athletic boot camps but are afraid of getting injured, I’d love to help you get started for a safer and injury free journey.

Let’s talk nutrition! It’s not about being perfect, just eating better at the next meal. Learning about portions is important. Just as important is recognizing when you are emotionally eating. This is a hard one but the important part is to eat better at the next meal. Don’t spend time beating yourself up for the “bad” thing you just ate. Take a walk and eat better at the next meal.

Training Professionally Since

Typical Training Session

My passion is to not only create effective movement programs but to educate you how the body works. Understanding the muscles you are using and their their function is important in connecting the mind to the muscle movement. During the first session, I will observe various basic movements to better understand your starting fitness level and what form corrections need to be addressed before progressing. Each session includes different movements that target the entire body moving together as well as a few movements that target specific muscles. Moving through a normal range of motion as the body is designed is more important than doing amazon looking feats that end up leaving you with shoulder surgery.

Another important aspect of a healthy lifestyle is to embark on a journey of internal transformation as well as physical transformation. This addresses how you think and taking small steps to understand what you are doing and why. It is more that simply establishing a set of skills to follow. It is rewriting defeating thoughts into ones that support your life journey. As we spend time together, I get to know my clients and can help them work through rewriting of these thoughts and over come road blocks for future progress. One step at a time.

Client success story

Many of my clients experience and increased range of motion and strength to perform their daily activities with reduced or no pain. As they get stronger they experience freedom of movement. Often fear creeps in because clients are not confident in their body’s ability to support their activity. This is most common in those who are sedentary or who have experienced and injury and are scared of getting hurt if they start moving. Over coming they fear and becoming more confident in their body dive them the freedom to do more, live more and travel more.
