About Nina Raff

My name is Nina Raff, I am 29 years old and about a year ago I found myself living an unhealthy lifestyle, which led me to my heaviest weight of 200lbs. My unhealthy eating habits impacted every aspect of who I was. I had turned into a miserable, unhappy and antisocial person. I developed a severe addition to sugar and would binge alone at home. I would eat when I was not hungry and I never really understood why I could not just stop. One thing I always had in the back of my mind was the fact that I knew my potential was greater. I was just stuck in a vicious unhealthy cycle that was extremely difficult to escape. I let food control my whole self and slowly became a victim to my own mind. Typically, after an unhealthy binge, that feeling of guilt and failure seeped in once again. What I was missing was a truly healthy balanced lifestyle. I knew something had to change.
January 2015 was the start of my major transformation. I started working with an amazing dietitian and trainer who have taught me new ideas about not just losing weight but becoming an overall healthy woman. Today, I have now lost 33 lbs and 10% body fat, and gained a new perspective on what it means to be truly healthy. This process is anything but easy and quick but I knew I wanted to help other people strive to reach their own goals.
I decided to become a personal trainer and a nutrition coach because I have a very strong passion for health and fitness and enjoy working with other people. I have been on both sides of the health spectrum and completely understand how emotional and difficult it can be. Being creative with trying different foods, recipes, and new ways to workout always kept my interest going. I realized that I did not need to workout in a gym facility to get a fantastic workout. I then started traveling to people’s homes, parks, and work offices and realized many women love the personalized one-on-one approach outside of a gym environment.
My style of training is a lot of HIIT training, band and strength training, as well as body weight and circuit style training. I know for some women, we are wrapped up in our own body images and going to the gym can be an uncomfortable experience, which is why training at home can be much more appealing for most.
With becoming healthier, nutrition plays a critical role. What we put into our bodies is extremely important. I can help guide you on how to have a balanced meal of protein, carbs, veggies and fats! Yes, you can still eat carbs and fats! Yes, you can still indulge in your yummy treats! I am not someone that is going to give up my red velvet cupcakes, frozen yogurt, French fries, and my occasional yummy Thai noodles ect. Why should I? Food is meant to be enjoyed, not restricted with so many rules! It is all about understanding how and when to enjoy those foods so they can fit into a healthy lifestyle.
Since I am now a personal trainer does that mean I am done with my own health goals?
Absolutely not! I am always going to be a work in progress. I always want to improve myself mentally, physically, spiritually and emotionally. I would like to lose another 15 lbs and another 8% body fat to reach my own weight-loss and body fat goals and I am not afraid to share that with my clients. I am not afraid to share what my struggles are and how I deal with them and discuss in detail what yours might be. I am a woman who made a choice a year ago to strive to be better than the day before, and I want to help you do the same.
This is a lifestyle change and we can do this together.

All it takes is a decision,
What will be yours?

Training Philosophy
Self Love is the start of any change. My training philosophy is small changes will lead to bigger ones in the future. The future is nothing more than a continuation of present moments.

Training Professionally Since
February 10, 2015

Typical Training Session

It really depends on the client and his/her abilities. I will make sure to always change up the sessions with new challenging ways to make a workout more fun and effective. We will do a warm up for ten minutes and then the actual workout for 40 min and then a nice 10 min session with certain breathing/stretching techniques to finish it off. I also give homework! and you can stay accountable to me with food, healthy behaviors, exercises, until you have the ability to depend on yourself and stay accountable to you!

Client success story

My name is Robin, I am 55 years old and I started training with Nina about 8 months ago. I lost 20 lbs and have a new outlook on health, food and what it means to actually depend on myself to make the healthier decisions. I was never on a diet, and I indulged in yummy foods because we discussed how to balance a healthy lifestyle that incorporated exercises and nutrition! I highly recommend Nina as a trainer because she understands how difficult it can be to get healthy and maintain those behaviors! Her personality is amazing, and I seriously enjoyed working with her. I am now independent and she goes above and beyond to make sure I am still doing well on my own!
She is amazing!!
