About Matt Frater

My name is Matt and I hail from New Preston, CT. I have been a lifelong athlete, playing both rugby and football at the college level, and that has led me to have a passion for human performance. I recently moved to Denver from New York City and have been loving it, as I really enjoy activities like skiing and mountain biking. If you have a dog they are welcome at any training session, and maybe they can join in if they need to need to get into shape.

Training Professionally Since

Typical Training Session

In a typical session with me a client can expect to begin with a thorough warm up that activates the primary muscles that will be used during the session, warms up the joints and gets blood flowing to the target areas. This all goes into preventing injury and improving performance during the session. The client can then expect a weight workout aimed at improving total body strength and stability, which improve performance in the activities they enjoy. In the process, increases in strength will eliminate aches and pains that the client is experiencing that may have reduced their functional capacity in their daily lives. If a client’s goal is weight loss, I will be sure to communicate to them the basic guidelines of proper nutrition, which combined with a proper exercise routine, will allow them to reach their goals.

Client success story

Eric is a 60 year old man living in New York City. He has a wife and a daughter. Eric came to me because he had gotten quite out of shape during the worst of the pandemic and was looking to improve his daily functioning and hopefully reduce the aches and pains that he feels on a regular basis. Once I assessed Eric’s strength level, I started him on a full body routine that was aimed at strengthening the tight or weak muscles that were likely the source of his aches and pains. These movements also gave him strength that improved his performance in activities of daily living. I also introduced the concept of regular stretching to Eric, which he picked up and now employs as part of his daily routine. By the end of our time together when I moved to Denver, Eric said that his aches and pains were much less regular and he felt stronger in the activities he enjoys, such as cycling and jogging.
