About Alisa M

With a background as a collegiate soccer player, and years of experience in track, cross-country, and bodybuilding prep, I bring a well-rounded athletic approach to personal training. Fitness has been a core part of my life for as long as I can remember, and I’ve worked with a variety of people to build strength, improve endurance, and meet personal goals. Outside the gym I’m currently in school working towards my bachelors in neuroscience to later go to med school to become a neurosurgeon. I love to hike whenever I can with my two dogs and my husband, if I can get him to come along. I’m passionate about helping others discover what their bodies are capable of, and supporting them to becoming stronger, healthier, and more confident.

Training Philosophy
I strive to create sustainable, personalized programs that meet clients where they’re at. My goal is to build a strong foundation while helping each person feel empowered and confident in their progress.

Typical Training Session

I like to start the first session or two learning how the clients body moves and letting you find a pace they’re comfortable with, while gently pushing them. As we build trust and consistency I love to increase intensity through progressive overload so that the client can see real results. I adjust my style based off the personality of the clients, whether it means being encouraging and upbeat or more intense and direct I want the clients to feel challenged, supported, and motivated.

Client success story

One of my proudest client successes was working closely with a friend who started training with me one on one. I helped her develop workouts, tailored specifically to her current fitness level, gradually increasing intensity by pushing her to reach rep goals close to what I was doing, but adjusted for her strength and endurance. If she struggled to meet certain targets, I modified the reps to keep her motivated and confident, building her strength steadily overtime. Additionally, she faced significant dietary challenges due to multiple allergies, including dairy, gluten, lentils, and several other common foods. I created a flexible, and enjoyable meal plan that worked around her restrictions, ensuring she had a variety of appealing options rather than a repetitive boring diet. Over six months to one year. She successively lost approximately 20 pounds, built lean muscle, and consistently increased her strength — progressing from barely moving certain weights to completing multiple reps and sets. Perhaps most rewarding was the boost in her confidence. She began embracing her body, dressing more bold and feminine, no longer feeling self-conscious, but proud of the progress she made physically and mentally.

Another impactful client was my mom, an avid runner who had recently completed an incredible challenge: running 6 1/2 marathons in six days across six different states. While she had her own running program, I designed 3 to 4 cross training sessions weekly to enhance her strength and reduce injury risk. Our work was done remotely through FaceTime, video analysis, and shared documents, where I guided her on proper form and progressive overload principles. I also helped her track muscle mass changes through circumference measurements and tailored her macronutrient intake to support her rigorous training. At the start, she was under eating for her needs, so I increased her calorie intake by nearly 1500 cal per day, ensuring proper fuel for recovery and strength gain. Within four months, she improved her pace by nearly 1 minute per mile on long runs, lost unwanted weight, and gained strength. Though our formal training ended, she continues to use my protocols and consults with me regularly for ongoing advice.

Another huge success for my clients was I currently trained a few individuals with sciatica, and over the span of two months of targeted programming, they’ve reported reduced pain, better sleep, improved daily movement, and major changes in waste circumference—while maintaining their desired weight. They’ve shared that this is the best they’ve ever felt, with more progress in eight weeks than during the three years they’ve been at their current Gym with previous trainers.

One of my more recent clients came to me after a knee replacement, unable to get on the floor and requiring mainly seated workouts. He came to me severely overweight with low muscle mass and high fluid retention, and wanting to get back into shape so he is able to walk his dog, go on hikes with his wife, as well as just feel better in his day-to-day movements. Over the one month he’s been with me. He’s lost nearly 10 pounds, increased his reps and sets, and is now walking faster, standing longer, and moving more confidently. It is noticeable that he’s starting to slim down, his energy has improved and for the first time— he is noticing these changes himself.

Hobbies
I love staying active through soccer, lifting, and hiking. I grew up in OR, just moved from FL to WI and enjoy everything outdoors— from mountains to hidden springs. In my downtime, I crochet and bake (mostly for others— it’s my favorite way to relax).
