About Daniel Johnson

I am an 11 year Air Force veteran. I have been involved in fitness and coaching for the last 6 years. When I got out of the Air Force I let myself go like many people have done. I had back surgery a year prior to getting out of the Air Force and I used every excuse in the book to not keep myself healthy. Yes I was in chronic pain, just like I am now, but I decided that I was going to be in pain but healthy. I’m in pain laying on the couch, so I’ll be in pain at the gym and no longer obese. The key is to focus on what you can do and not on what you can’t do. I decided I had enough and lost over 50lbs, then I gained about 40 of it back. I have now lost that 40lbs yet again. This time I did it with more of a long term vision. The key is figuring out a way to mix your diet and fitness to maximize your results. I believe my story is similar to most peoples. I can help find what you can do and hopefully give you the confidence to overcome what you feel you can’t do.

Training Philosophy
Fundamentals are the most important thing when working out. Getting to your goals safely is key.

Training Professionally Since

Typical Training Session

I want to make each session as difficult as I can for each person while staying within their personal abilities. Simply put, if you can only do 10 pushups then we will do many sets of 10 pushups and strengthen the other muscles so next time you can do 15. Always pushing to get better.

Client success story

I’ll share two stories:
The biggest thing that gets in clients way of getting better is the 6 inches between our ears. I had a client who was very strong but thought that every exercise had to be 8-10 reps, and would always say the she was at failure between 8-10 reps no matter the weight. One day we were on a lat pulldown machine and I put the weight on about 80lbs. She did the lat pulldown and sure enough stopped at 10 even though I knew she could do way more. I had her close her eyes and do as many reps as she could until she actually got to failure. I acted like I changed the weight, but I put it right back on 80lbs. She kept her eyes closed and started doing reps and was going to go until failure. I stopped her at 32 reps and showed her the 80lbs she thought she could no longer do at 10 reps. From that point on the gains and confidence was off the charts. That helped realize what she was actually capable of.

I am currently working with a lady who recently ended chemotherapy. She needed to gain weight and strength to get back to her old self. We spent the first few weeks working on fundamentals and showing every exercise from bench press to squats, shoulder press and everything else in between. Now our workouts are body part specific, so I can we are doing leg day and she knows what to do. She has gained 9 lbs of lean muscle and increased strength in every part of her body. She can now get back to biking long distances.

Hobbies
I camp with my family, play golf and most things outdoors.
