About Jes Metz

I have been passionate about working out and fitness since I was a kid. I grew up going on runs with my dad and spending my time at the gym with him, creating drills to help improve my basketball game. I went on to play college and then had the chance to play overseas as well. I got into coaching after I finished playing and have been doing performance coaching ever since. I have worked with a variety of athletes, I have spent the past 15 years at the college level, but have continued training on the side with young athletes, professional athletes, as well as a few specialized clients (MS, cerebral palsy). I love working hard and I love sharing that passion with others. Fitness is an important part of health and so my goal is always to find ways to make it as enjoyable as possible for the person. I currently work with youth athletes in Southern California but can do online training with people anywhere and enjoy the challenge of creativity it takes to work with different types of clients.

Training Philosophy
I believe in creating programs to help my athletes build a healthy lifestyle- teach them habits and tricks so that they can stay on a healthy path. I don't believe in just creating "workouts" that will make people sore for a week

Training Professionally Since
January 1, 2006

Typical Training Session

It completely depends on their goals! Workouts with an athlete might include conditioning and strength, workouts with one of my MS clients was more focused on strength and balance/coordination. In general, I stay away from isolated movements and use more total body movements that are more like life and sports. I try to give people the most bang for their buck so to say since most people probably do not want to be at the gym for more than hour!

Client success story

I have trained several athletes in college who went on to have professional playing careers, and I continue to train them as they play. I also have worked with several specialized clients, and I think one of my favorites was the MS client who I started my career with. He was told he would be in a wheel chair within in a year, but we had him walking around the block within the year instead! I love training athletes and helping them build discipline, but being able to make that big of a difference in someone’s daily life is my favorite thing!

Hobbies
I love to play basketball, run, hike, and read.
