About Jared Ramer

I have been a student of fitness and wellness since 2008. Currently I am pursuing my PhD in the field of Kinesiology, at the University of Illinois at Chicago where I also received my Masters degree in the same subject, with the emphasis on exercise and behavioral psychology. My strengths as a trainer are my ability to research the best evidence-based practices available as well as my training as a health coach and a motivational interviewer to ensure the greatest support to those pursuing a goal.

Training Philosophy
Humans have the means to change within them. My job and training are to evoke it from those who are ready

Training Professionally Since
August 1, 2012

Typical Training Session

My training sessions take so many different forms because my clientele have had many different goals. During a typical session you are guaranteed a check-in and conversation about your progress. I will listen without judgment and provide the best personal support available through my health coaching experience. The training sessions themselves are always based on my learning and comprehension of motor learning and biomechanics theory, however through that same study I understand too much feedback can be worse than not enough. The sessions will be difficult at times, but always geared toward achieving your specific goal(s).

Client success story

Most recently during my personal training work at the YMCA I had several clients share the success they had while working with me. One lost 20 lbs over 6 months after having no success for years. Another had spinal stenosis and was able to have less pain after working with me than she did after her chiropractic sessions. A third had a traumatic brain injury before working with me and was having difficulty moving his limbs how he wanted. He told me after working with me for 6 weeks that he slipped and caught himself which he would not have been able to do in his recent past as we had been working specifically on improving his balance and stability.

Hobbies
I am a martial artist and musician besides being a scientist and I love to talk about all 3. I play piano and percussion and my martial arts include: Tae Kwon Do, Jiu Jitsu, Cambo, American and Muay Thai Kickboxing, MMA, Kung Fu, and Capoeira
