About Jacob Laureano

Hello! My name is Jacob, nice to meet you! I have been training for about 6 years in different domains. When I started my fitness journey, I was a cross-country runner sophomore year of high school. I believed that running was it, just mix in a couple of push ups and pull ups and you are good to go. I soon realized that, yes I was “fit” in the sense I can run for a long time but I couldn’t really do anything else. Then I was introduced to CrossFit, a fitness program that revolved around combining strength, cardio, gymnastics, and everything in between. After following it vigorously for 6 months, I fell involve with olympic weightlifting, a sport that consisted of the snatch and clean and jerk. I based my training in olympic weightlifting for a couple years, and realized that I was able to move in ways many weren’t able to. I soon realized that to unlock true potential you have to think outside of the box with your training and move in different ways! Currently, I take everything I have learned and am learning into practice, making a diverse system that has room for exploration! This way has helped me with coaching others and in my studies of Exercise Science and The University of Illinois at Chicago.

– Specific warm up: focusing on active joint movement (10 minutes)
– Goal specific training (i.e strength, cardio, balance, etc.) (~40 minutes)
– Cool down: a nice flow of static stretching (~5-10 minutes)
