About James Anderson

I have always had two true passions in my life: playing and coaching sports and providing a service that is helping improve the lives of others. Getting my bachelors degree in Sports Strength and Conditioning from the United States Sports Academy as well a becoming an NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist has given me the opportunity to fulfill both of those passions at the same time!!

I have grown up my entire life playing a large variety of sports, Basketball being my main sport, and just simply could not live without them. On top of my love of playing sports I also love doing personalized coaching to improve athletic performance in others, both youth and adults (Basketball and Football are my main specialties).

The biggest thing I can promise when you train with me is that I am a very compassionate person who cares about a lot more than just earning money. I have gone through tough times in my life and I am convinced that exercising and staying physically fit is the biggest thing that has kept me going in life and helped me become the man I am today

Training Philosophy
I believe in what I call "Functional Fitness". It's safe, gets you fit and healthy, and doesn't ruin your joints so that you can be active for a lifetime (and not just when you're young)

Training Professionally Since
April 30, 2015

Typical Training Session

1. Always start with a warmup for 5-10 minutes (involves active stretching and easy cardio)
2. Low impact exercises that won’t ruin your joints and will help increase bone-density.
3. Zero powerlifting or CrossFit exercises (such as Clean and Jerk) because those are terrible for longterm health
4. Big focus on exercises that work your entire core (not just your abs) so that you will have improved overall posture, balance, and strength
5. Finish with a cool down and some static stretching

Client success story

I have a client who started with me because of weakness in his shoulders and knees. I found out that he used to do olympic lifting and powerlifting (no wonder he was in pain!). Knowing that workout history, I started giving him workouts that continuously strengthened his shoulders and legs without any hard jerking motions involved. Now, he’s back to being able to ski without knee pain and toss a football or a frisbee without shoulder pain!
