About Joe Thorington

My love for weightlifting began during the summer of 2008, when I was a short 110 pound freshman looking forward to my sophomore year. My only goal, aside from adding inches to my height and arms, was to be a state qualified wrestler. By the time my senior year was over, I achieved that goal and walked across the stage having packed on 70 pounds of muscle, through proper and intelligent weight training.

In college, I became a Power Lifting national qualifier in the bench press. After graduating with a degree in broadcasting, I became a television reporter. Although I enjoyed that job, it wasn’t my passion. I couldn’t help but say to myself “I could be at the gym right now.”

I wanted to become a personal trainer, but the sedentary life of being a reporter caused me to pack on some unneeded weight. That motivated me to spend the next year or so honing in on nutrition and weightlifting to strip off fat and add more muscle, all while working 40 hours a week. I lost 50 pounds of fat and put on about 10 pounds of lean body mass inside that short time period.

Not only do I have more than 10 years of committed lifting experience, but I’ve also walked the road of being an out of shape adult who initially felt he had no time to get the body he wanted.

Those challenges and victories brought me to want to help others achieve that same sense of accomplishment.
